Regarding return to stock after refund, this is by design. We coded the system so that returned items are not automatically returned to stock after a refund in case the returned goods are faulty or require rework/re packaging before going back into stock.

We've got a feature request raised to see whether we can modify the system to ask you whether you want to return goods to stock after returning them though.
