Using Easify at 2 locations via VPN

Hi

We have been using easify for a couple of years now and find it works well, however, we have restructured things and need to integrate things better, whereas before we had a server with an SQL reporting system pulling data from 4 locations running independently, we now want to run a server based easify database at one location and use the other stores as clients.

Watched the network set up which seems fine, but need to know how to set up via VPN, we were using logmein hamachi as a network for the reporting previously

Any help would be appreciated

Regards

Jez

Re: Using Easify at 2 locations via VPN

There are many ways of setting up a VPN connection, LogMeIn Hamatchi is one method some of our users have reported using. Here is a forum post that might help you to resolve an issue some have found when trying to connect an Easify client remotely.

Alternatively if you have a server running Windows Server 2003 or above, you can setup a VPN connection with that.

Also some professional grade routers have an inbuilt VPN ability.

If you are having trouble finding the best solution, please consult an IT professional.

Re: Using Easify at 2 locations via VPN

Please connect your remote computer to your local network (the one that has the Easify database computer connected to it), then perform a standard client installation.

Here is a guide on how to install a client on your local network.

Once you have Easify up and running locally, you should be able to enable your VPN connection from a remote location and Easify should connect and work.

If this is not the case you should make sure that any firewalls in between your Easify network and your remote location are not blocking the connection.

Here is a guide we have written to help with firewall setups:

As VPNs can be rather complicated and can cause potential security risks to your network if not setup properly, we recommend you consult an IT professional to setup your VPN connection.
