OK, My till is a bit "open all hours"
When completing a sale, It starts the print, then pauses about 2/3 through, has a think about it, makes a cup of tea, then completes the print (pause of about 5 seconds in reality) THEN it goes for a siesta, another cuppa, then it opens the drawer (Approx delay 7 seconds)
Help me Obi-Wan your my only hope...

Printer is Epson T88III
This particular printer model has a reputation for being slow.
Are you printing your logo on the receipt? Simply disabling the logo can speed this printer up.
Is the printer connected via serial cable or USB? I suspect serial.
Either way could you check the printer settings and find what the transfer speed is set to, this is usually called the 'baud rate'.
Just a warning and a disclaimer, we do not support this printer and the advice I am about to give you comes with no warranty and you follow at your own risk.
The baud rate is usually set to 9600 by default, but can be set to a higher speed, (usually maxing out at 19200). Setting this to as high as possible on BOTH the printer settings and the printer itself, can improve the print speed. There is a service cover on the printer under which there are a collection of DIP switches. According to the manual for an Epson T88III, on page 43 - 44, switch 1-7 and 1-8 should both be set to OFF to set 19200 baud rate on the printer.

I am not printing a logo, after reading posts discussing slow printing I thought this to be best avoided lol.
Quick question before I tamper with settings,
Would baud rate being low make the printer pause during printing or just make the overall printing process slow?

Could you let us know what type of interface the printer is using? Serial, Parallel, USB?
Also, is the printer connected to the same computer that the Easify database is installed on, or is the database on another computer on your network?

Printer is connected by USB, Easify just running on my till PC (Olivetti 300 iirc)
Not the fastest PC (dual core thingy) could this cause issues?

Slow printing is usally associated with printers connected with a serial cable.
As this is USB connected I am unsure why it is pausing and printing slowly without physically having it here in our lab to test.
The receipt text is all compiled before it is sent to the printer as a continuous string of characters. There may be various reasons why your receipt printer is slowing down on various parts of the receipt text that it is sent.
If you could send us the printer, along with any cables and installation discs, we can test it and get to the bottom of the issue.

Sorry, can't send printer as its in daily use. Have maybe narrowed it down to the post print command.
It seems to be a delay between finishing printing, then leaving a space and cutting, followed by drawer opening.
my post print command is: 27,100,8,29,86,0,48
My drawer open is: 27,112,0,25,250
do those look correct to you guys? (unsure of drawer make)
