VeriFone vx810 Chip & PIN USB PED Stops Working after reboot
VeriFone vx810 Chip & PIN USB PED Stops Working after reboot.
If you use a VeriFone USB vx810 with Easify to take chip and PIN card payments via YesPay, and it appears to stop working after you reboot the computer the likely cause is that the virtual COM Port number assigned to the vx810 has been changed by Windows plug and play.
The problem occurs because Windows automatically assigns a virtual COM Port number to the vx810 when it is connected. If Windows determines that the COM Port it last used is still in use, it will assign a new COM Port number to the device which will prevent it communicating with YesPay.
To solve this issue follow these steps:
Launch Windows Device Manager, expand Ports (COM & LPT).

Right click Vx810 PIN Pad(COM3) and select Properties. Note that your COM number will probably be different to the one shown here.

Select the Port Settings tab and click the Advanced button.

In the Advanced Settings Window change the COM Port Number: to the value it originally had when you configured YesPay.
Note* The original COM Port number may appear with (in use) next to it in the drop down list. Ignore this and select it anyway, the port is only showing as in use because it was reserved by Windows for the vx810 in the first place.
The vx810 USB PED will now retain the same COM Port number between re-boots.
