Sales reports
In a shop sale, you can add a note to a product sold. Is there any way to make those notes visible when running a report of the day's transactions?

Hi Sarah, the notes entered on the POS appear on the order under the line item/product comments and isn't visible when running a report of the day's transactions.

ahh thank you! that's pesky, but never mind. is there another way of putting an order ref on a sale to a customer's account then that would be included on a sales report?

If you were raise (or amend) the order in the 'backend' (i.e . from the Orders & Quotes screen rather than the POS) you can add an order comment. You can then export your sales data for any given period under File->Export->Sales.
Order comments are also viewable in the cashbook, (once payment is taken for that order) and the view from the cashbook can also be exported.
