Installing the Easify Client on a New Computer

This tutorial video discusses advanced Easify V3 installations - scroll to 29:31 in the video for a discussion about installing a new Easify V3 client.

If you have already installed Easify on a computer on your network and wish to install Easify on another computer the following guide will take you through the process.

Easify consists of two main components, the database that is used to store all of your data such as customer records, products etc... And the actual Easify program that to run and use to access that data. When referring to the two components of Easify, we refer to the database as 'the database' or sometimes the 'Easify server' and the Easify program that you interact with is known as 'the Client'.

We strongly recommend that you run Windows Update and install all critical updates and service packs before installing Easify.

We strongly recommend that you temporarily disable anti-virus software during the installation process, and that you reboot your computer prior to installing Easify.

You can download the latest version of Easify here.

Launch the Installation Wizard by running Setup.exe.

Note: You must run the Easify Installer (Setup.exe) from your computer and not by running it from our website. When you download the Easify Installer and are asked what to do by your web browser, select to save it to your computer, and do not select the option to run it. Once it has finished downloading run Setup.exe from the location it was saved in.

When you launch Setup.exe, the Easify installer will carry out a few checks on your system to ensure that certain pre-requisites have been met (such as the .Net framework being installed).

Once the pre-requisites have been checked you will be greeted with the installer welcome screen. Click Next to continue.

Please read the Easify End User License Agreement (EULA) and if you agree to its terms, tick the box to accept the license agreement.

Click Next when you are ready to move on.

Easify setup will now check your computer for any previously installed versions of Easify.  If a previous version is detected you will be given the opportunity to upgrade the existing installation.

However, since you are installing a new Easify client, setup will not find any previous versions to upgrade.

At the next screen of the installation wizard you have the opportunity to choose one of three installation options.

As we are installing a new Easify client we will choose the first option "Client Software Only".

Click Next when ready to move on.

At the next screen, enter the details of your Easify database server.

This tells the Easify client where to find your Easify database on your network.

These will be the details that were given to you when you installed the Easify database for the first time. If you do not have the server details please see your system administrator, or the person that installed the Easify database who will be able to give you the required information.

In this example Easify was originally installed on a computer named 'MyComputer'. So in the Computer Name box we have entered 'MyComputer\Easify'.

Username is typically sa for a default installation.

Password is the password used during the initial installation of the Easify database. The default Easify database password is either 'easifypeasifylemonsqueazify' or 'Eas1fyPeas1fyLemonSqueaz1fy' (without the quote marks).

Your password will be either of the previous passwords depending on when you first installed Easify. The first password was used as the default database password up until April 2012, after that date the default password was changed to the second one in order to meet complexity requirements on later versions of Windows. If one of the passwords above doesn't work, try the other one.

Click Next when ready.

The installer will attempt to contact the Easify database specified. If the database cannot be contacted the installer will prompt you to re-check the computer name and credentials you entered. If you are sure that the details you entered are correct then please refer to the troubleshooting guide here.

You can either accept the default destination folder for the client installation (recommended), or specify an alternative destination.

Click Next when ready.

When the installation is complete you can click the Finished button to exit the installation.

You can now launch Easify via the shortcuts that have been created on your desktop.
