You could use the Reports > Finance > Sales By Product Category to get this information based on a given date range.

Sorry its for the daily sales, when I input into our accounting it asks for how many items of stock have been sold. It needs to be daily, z reports dont seem to show how many items sold that day.

The Sales by Product Category report will give you a single figure for how many individual products you have sold over a give date range (be it a single days worth or more).

For a single day's worth of results enter the date of the day you want results for into both of the From and To date fields.

Once the reports loads go to the bottom of the last page, find the Grand Total results and then look at the Qty column, this is the value you're looking for.
